What will I be doing?
We require a pro-active individual to join our supportive team in playing a crucial role in supporting young disadvantaged students in making the most of their education and time at school. The successful candidate will work alongside key school staff, children, families and external agencies to encourage positive attitudes towards the connection of great attendance and successful education.
- You will build strong relationships with students to understand their individual needs and challenges and provide them with mentoring and flexible support and guidance on various issues, particularly to improve student attendance.
- You will provide early intervention for students with poor or irregular attendance and liaise with families to discuss attendance concerns and help overcome barriers, ensuring that families receive the support needed to improve attendance.
- The postholder will work closely with senior colleagues to ensure effective follow-up on attendance concerns and escalate where necessary.
- You will be a part of a team striving to achieve the highest standard of educational achievement possible under the guidance of the Assistant Head for Inclusion.
This post involves transporting key students to and from school, as necessary, using the school’s vehicle so the postholder will be required to have a full driving licence. The postholder may also be required to attend out of hours meetings or events related to student support.
This is a varied and rewarding opportunity to support young people, and to work with a great team in a successful secondary school.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
- The ideal candidate will have experience of working with or caring for young people in the 11-16 range, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and a relevant qualification in education, social care or youth work.
- You will also have knowledge of safeguarding practices and emotional health and wellbeing.
- You will also work well under pressure and have excellent communication, time-management and organisational skills.
- You will possess a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude and have a passion for supporting young people to develop their life goals.
If you think you possess the qualities and experience we are looking for, we would very much like to hear from you.
