Key information

We are looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant

28 hours and 45 mins per week, Monday to Friday 8.45 am – 3.30pm, term time only, Grade 15 point 4, and is fixed term until 31 August 2027.

This position will include an additional daily 30 minute lunchtime duty. Grade 16 point 2, fixed term until 31 August 2027.

What will I be doing?

Thurlbear CE VA Primary School is a school on the edge of Taunton, but in the centre of the learning action. Our vision is to be an irresistible Church School and you need to want the same thing!  Our great children are caring, thoughtful and friendly towards others and their behaviour stands out when we go out into the community. We are looking to appoint a great teaching assistant to provide support in our classes.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

Ideally, we want someone who has real experience of working in an effective classroom environment and is fully committed to helping children to achieve their very best. We want a teaching assistant who wants to stand out, not be outstanding. Ideally, we are looking for someone who also has experience of working with pupils with specific learning needs (but training will be on offer).

The successful applicant will:

  • Be positive, adaptable and flexible
  • Be patient and caring, whilst setting clear boundaries
  • Have experience with, or knowledge of, children with ASC
  • Have English and Maths to GCSE level or NVQ equivalent
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Understand the importance of child protection and safe guarding
