The UK Government’s Children’s Social Care Reform is the most significant overhaul in a generation. This initiative aims to transform the system from reactive crisis intervention to proactive, family-focused support. At the heart of this transformation is the Families First Partnership (FFP) Programme. Somerset Children’s Social Care has been awarded over £1.3 million in dedicated funding from the Department for Education to support this ground breaking programme.

What will I be doing?

Are you passionate about family-led decision-making and transformative practice? In line with the Families First Partnership Programme, Somerset’s Children’s Services is expanding its Family Group Conference (FGC) / Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) offer—and we’re looking for a visionary Team Manager to join us on this journey.

As an additional FGC / FGDM Team Manager, you’ll work in partnership with our current manager to drive forward the Families First Partnership Programme, an innovative and strengths-based model placing families at the heart of planning and change.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

You will:

  • have a sound understanding of the FGC model and principles.
  • be passionate about supporting children and their families to be the key decision makers in any plans.
  • be motivated and proactive to continue to promote FGCs within Somerset.
  • be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external services.
  • have significant experience of partnership working with families and multi-disciplinary teams.
