Key information

  • 2 x Permanent positions available.
  • 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • You will be based in one of our Somerset Council main Offices in either Taunton, Bridgwater, Shepton Mallet or Yeovil.
  • Hybrid working will be offered in agreement with management.
  • You will be required to work mainly within our opening hours of 9am-5pm, occasionally working slightly later as required.
  • 25 days annual leave, rising to 28 after 5 years continuous service.
  • This is a great role to introduce you to Homelessness and Accommodation.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

Coordinate the allocation of temporary accommodation to service users with the rest of the Temporary Accommodation team.

Ensure all applicants complete a Housing Benefits application.

Liaise with housing providers to ensure the availability and suitability of accommodation.

Conduct regular inspections of temporary accommodation to ensure standards are met.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle difficult situations.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate records and case management.
