Taunton Deane Partnership College (TDPC) is one of four Pupil Referral Units commissioned by Somerset Council and Somerset schools, covering Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe. We work alongside students (5-16 years) in several ways: those who have an EHCP naming us as their school; students with medical needs that inhibits their access to mainstream settings; those who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and in partnership with schools through our Centres and in Outreach.

  • 37 hours per week, term time plus INSET Days (39 weeks per year), permanent
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: Grade 12 (actual salary range £24,047 – £26,959)

What will I be doing?

We are looking to appoint a Welfare & Safeguarding Officer to support the work of the Safeguarding Team. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop this new role, and to make a difference to children in our service. You will join a highly motivated and rigorous Safeguarding Team who are committed to achieving the best outcomes for our children and families.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We are looking for a someone who:

  • Has a working knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and Special Education Needs and how it applies in a school context
  • Has excellent administration and time management skills coupled with experience of working with children and young people and their parents/carers
  • Is confident, resilient and dependable and is committed to high quality support for young people
  • Is organised and hard working – willing and able to go the extra mile.

DBS check

TDPC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a high awareness of these areas and undergo an enhanced DBS check. We also conduct online checks of all applicants during the shortlisting process.
