Combe St Nicholas is a small church school in the heart of the village of Combe St Nicholas, Somerset. It was rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED in September 2022 and ‘Excellent’ by SIAMS in December 2019. It is an inclusive school committed to giving an excellent, broad education for all.
What will I be doing?
We are looking for a 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and friendly team starting at the beginning of the Autumn term 2026. This role will be to support a child with additional needs mainly based in one of the mixed-age classes in our school and will involve supporting a child in that class to be able to access the whole school curriculum, alongside the class teacher. We are looking for someone who is as happy to support learning in a writing or maths lesson as they are to support an art lesson, or to accompany a school trip fossil-hunting to the coast – life in a small school is always busy and always varied!
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
Although previous experience as a 1-1 SEN TA is desirable, it is not essential, we are primarily looking for someone kind, compassionate and patient, with a willingness to embrace life in our busy church school, who is happy to be flexible and good-humoured as the role might be quite varied across the week. You will be someone who enjoys working with children and helping them to learn successfully, play successfully and develop as unique individuals.
