• Two part-time roles across Somerset
• Hours: 18.75 hours per week
• Salary: £27,000 FTE (37.5 hours); £13,500 actual salary
• Contract: Initially to March 2027, with expectation of renewal to March 2029
• Location: Home and community based, with one role covering the east and one the west of the county

Burnham and Weston Energy CIC is a not-for-profit local energy enterprise working towards a future where our energy is locally generated, locally owned and low carbon.

We own a 9.3MW community solar farm at Wick Farm, between Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare. The 36,000-panel solar array has been up and running since 2016, generating electricity for the equivalent of over 2,000 homes. The electricity generated by the solar farm is sold to the grid and surplus income (after operating and finance costs) is put to work to help tackle fuel poverty in the local area, provide grants to local community projects, and fund renewables and energy efficiency measures for local schools and community buildings.

As a CIC our priority is community organisations and households with the greatest need.

We are supported by CfR CIC, which set up Burnham and Weston Energy, developed and financed the solar farm and provides ongoing support with company administration and looking after the solar farm.

What will I be doing?

Make a practical difference when people need it most

We are looking for two Resilience Support Workers to provide practical, person-centred support to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, crisis, or the risk of financial instability. You will help people access immediate support where eligible, build longer-term financial resilience and connect with services that improve wellbeing and independence.

Where the roles are based

• West of the county: the former Taunton and West Somerset and Sedgemoor areas.
• East of the county: South Somerset and Mendip.
• Home and community based within your area, with a flexible working pattern.

What you will do

• Triage referrals and identify urgent need.
• Carry out holistic, person-centred assessments and develop personalised support plans.
• Help people respond to sudden financial shocks such as loss of income, unexpected costs, illness or housing issues.
• Support access to crisis payments, grants and other sources of financial assistance where eligible.
• Connect people with advice, health, housing and specialist services.
• Build strong relationships with local partners, services and community groups.
• Reach people who may be unaware of their eligibility, including harder-to-reach and marginalised communities.
• Maintain accurate records using referral, CRM and lone-working systems.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We are looking for someone who

• Communicates and listens well, with empathy, patience and a non-judgemental approach.
• Can manage a varied and demanding caseload and find creative, practical solutions.
• Works confidently both independently and as part of a team.
• Has good IT skills and keeps accurate records.
• Has 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths; reliable broadband; a suitable home-working environment; a full current driving licence and reliable car insured for business use.
• Is willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
