We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced School Business Manager to join our supportive and forward-thinking leadership team. This is a key role that supports the Headteacher and Governing Body in ensuring the school runs efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall learning experience of our children.
What will I be doing?
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will have strategic oversight of the school’s business and operational functions, including finance, administration, HR, and site management.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing all aspects of the school’s budget and financial planning
- Leading financial transactions and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Providing detailed financial analysis, forecasting income, expenditure, and trends
- Overseeing administrative and office systems and ensuring efficient operations
- Supporting the development and implementation of school policies and procedures
- Leading and managing administrative and premises staff
- Advising senior leaders and governors on statutory and regulatory matters
- Supporting marketing and income generation to enhance the school’s profile in the community
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
The successful candidate will:
- Have a recognised qualification in business management or equivalent relevant experience
- Demonstrate excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Be confident in working strategically and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
- Show leadership and initiative in managing change and driving improvement
- Have previous experience in financial management and human resources, ideally within an educational setting
- Be experienced in using financial and administrative software systems
- Possess strong people management and interpersonal skills
- Be proactive, approachable, and aligned with the values and ethos of the school
A School Business Management (SBM) qualification is desirable, though not essential.
